Elderly urged to join organization

CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Councilor Celiapo A. Cabuenas, chairman of the committee on social welfare and services, invites residents who are 60 years old and above to join the organization of senior citizens to avail of privileges.

While Talisay’s privileges aren’t a match to privileges Cebu City gives to its senior citizens, Cabuenas said Talisay gives many benefits, including the 20 percent discounts on transportation fare, medicines, food in big restaurants and in movie theaters as well as a five percent discount on electric bills, among others.

Cabuenas said the city government gave bundles of joy to the elderly last Christmas.

Recently, City Social Welfare & Development Officer Mrs. Felipa T. Solana supervised the election of the Talisay City Federation of Senior Citizens Association.

Elected officers of the Talisay City Federation of Senior Citizens Association were Amelia C. Kiamko (Lawaan III) as president; Vice-President-Romeo L. Martinez (Linao); Secretary- Fredeswinda T. Mendoza (Biasong); Treasurer-Angeles R. Gella (Dumlog); Auditor-Rosa Lilia E. Pacquiao (Bulacao); PRO-Virgilio M. Catabas (Mohon) and Joel T. Calimpas (Lagtang).
