Capitol gives cash assistance to San Fernando village chiefs
CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu provincial government and board members Julian “Teban” Daan and Sergio Restauro handed over P2.3 million in financial assistance to 21 barangay captains of the municipality of San Fernando.
First district Rep. Eduardo Gullas and his grandson congressional aspirant Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas were present during the distribution at the Capitol.
Governor Gwendolyn Garcia led the ceremonial distribution.
With her were third district Congressman Pablo John “PJ” Garcia, Deputy Speaker Pablo Garcia, and former Danao City Vice Mayor Ramon “Boboy” Durano IV.
The San Fernando government is neither an ally of the Gullas-led Alayon Party nor the Garcia-led One Cebu, so are some of the barangay captains.
But even then, Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) president Alfonso Donaire clarified that Gov. Garcia did not forget the town of San Fernando.
Donaire said it is just a matter of finding time for the opportunity to gather together with the presence of the governor.
All of the barangay captains were present.
The younger Gullas said they were all there because of their common desire to serve their constituents.
Gov. Garcia assured that the Capitol’s assistance to the barangays of the town will continue.
The cash aid alone given directly to the barangay captains starting in 2004, has already totaled P6.8 million.
“Magkalain-lain man ang atong bulok sa politika apan ang panginahanglan sa baranggay wa gyu’y kolor sa politika,” Gov. Garcia said, as she thanked Cong. Gullas for leading the barangay captains to the Capitol.
Garcia showed to the barangay captains the records of projects that were implemented in different barangays of San Fernando since she assumed office in 2004.
Under her administration, the provincial government has already asphalted more than 20 kilometers of roads worth P78 million; 13 two-classroom buildings worth P9.4 million; financial assistance to all barangays amounting to P6.8 million; bridges, water system, 15,480 bags of cement, multicabs and several other projects.
