Metro Cars annihilates Slowgrind to go 5-0 in MPBA

CEBU, Philippines — The Metro Cars showed off explosive offense as it stretched its hot streak to five games with a 150-93 obliteration of Slowgrind in the Mandaue’s Pride Basketball Association (MPBA) Commissioner’s Cup Season 3 over the weekend at the Cebu Port Authority (CPA) Gym.

Five Metro Cars players scored 20 or more points in its ruthless 57-point blowout of the hapless Slowgrind.

Sanel Cabalda and Jeofrey Deligero fired 29 points each, even as they also combined for 18 rebounds and five assists while Albert Borling nearly had a triple-double with 24 points, eight boards, and as many assists.

Metro Cars was actually ahead by only 17 at halftime, 64-47, but completely outclassed Slowgrind in the final half,  86-46, resulting to a cakewalk.

James Kenneth Asoro tallied 22 markers laced with seven rebounds and four assists while Philip Larayos added 21 points, two rebounds, four assists and two steals as Metro Cars fortified its hold of the solo leadership in Premiere Division with a perfect 5-0 record.

Lhee Brandon Tiu erupted for 42 points on top of 10 rebounds and two assists while MacMac Mollona banged in 26 points, four rebounds and four assists but their efforts proved futile as Slowgrind stayed listless in four starts.

In the other Premiere Division duel, Kibs Genobia sparkled with 31 points spiked with a dozen rebounds and five assists as the Flago Prayboys downed Home Sourced, 90-87, to take the solo third spot with a 3-2 win-loss mark.

Kenny Genobia made a significant contribution for the Prayboys with 18 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

James Villafuerte charted 31 points, eight rebounds and six assists, while Isabelo Almohallas and Alberto Talisay connived for 33 points but to no avail as Home Sourced dropped to 2-3. – EBV
