CEBU, Philippines — Everything is already in the place for the One Central Eagles Region XVI Annual Chess Tournament on Saturday, March 2, at Robinsons Galleria Cebu.
Behind the initiative of CPA-lawyer Rheneir Mora, the one-day tilt is organized by the Fraternal Order of Eagles Philippine Eagles (TFOE-PE) Central Visayas Region 16 in partnership with Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP)-Cebu Chapter and the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Cebu Chapter.
National Arbiter Kevin Yap of the Cebu School of Chess said they are expecting over a hundred participants in the 9-round Swiss system competition that offers close to P30,000 in cash prize.
The champion will pocket P5,000, while the second to fifth placers will take home P3,000, P2,000, P1,000, and P700, respectively. The sixth to 10th will receive P500 each, while those who will make it to the top 15 will get a consolation of P300.
Aside from medals, the top three peformers in the Eagles, laywers, and CPAs categories will also have an incentive of P700, P500, and P300.
On the other hand, the top two ladies, seniors A and B, and Under 8, 12, 16, and 20 players will get P500 and P300.
Registration fee is pegged at P300 for regular players and a discounted rate of P200 for senior citizens, PWDs, ladies, and kids 12 years old and below.
