CEBU, Philippines — The defending champion Pulpogan ousted Poblacion Occidental, 90-79, to book a final ticket in SK Category A of the 12th Mayor Teresa “Nene” P. Alegado Cup Fiesta Basketball League in Consolacion, Cebu.
Prince Soquino sizzled with 20 points, James Saliot scored 18, while JD Esdrelon added 13 points as Pulpogan rode on a scintillating endgame show to boost their bid of claiming back-to-back crowns.
With the score tied at 61-all after three quarters, Pulpogan pummeled Poblacion Occidental in the final 10-minute mark, 29-18, to come up with a double-digit victory.
Pulpogan will face either Cabangahan or Casili in the championship.
In the other results, Garing teams forged a rubbermatch in their respective categories.
Dhell Alin fired 20 points and Vince Ashly Mangilaya chipped in 16 markers as Garing slammed Tolo-tolo, 74-64, to force a decider in their title clash in the midget category B.
Ikel Villamor dropped 23 points while Reynaldo Pardillo and Carl Jay Mangilaya connived for 22 points as the reigning titlist Garing escaped past Polog, 81-76, to live and fight for another day in the senior category B.
The tournament is under the supervision of SK Federation President Carlos Donn Flores, the overall sports chairman, and his co-chair councilor Marilou Casul.
