CEBU, Philippines — King Jos Rydan Relatorres of the University of the Visayas (UV) prevailed in a tough field of 27 contenders to rule the 1st Virtual Junior Olympics Tournament organized by the Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC) in association with the Cebu Scrabble Association (CSA).
Relatorres completed the 20-game series that ran for three days from August 10-12 with the highest cumulative output of 1,948 anchored on his 17 wins against only three losses.
Jessa Marie Manigos of the Cebu City National Science High School (CCNSHS) placed second with a 14-6 win-loss record and a cumulative margin of 1,098.
Germain Bargamento of the Don Sergio Osmena Sr. Memorial National High School (DSOSMNHS) and Lord Garnett Talisic of Science High both finished with 13-7 win-loss slated but Bargamento took the third place honors courtesy of a higher cumulative margin of 714 against Talisic’s 430.
Britha Anne Gabod of Busay National High School, Uriel Drago Cabuguas of PAREF-Springdale School, and Chairylle Bucao of Science High occupied the fifth to seventh spots with similar 12-8 win-loss cards.
Carmelo Rey Arranguez, Lyle Anthony Casul, and Louzelle Baringi-an, all from Science High, made it to the Top 10 with identical 11-9 win-loss marks.
Rounding up the Top 15 finishers were Kristian Marpe Tallo and Divine Angel Padilla of Ramon Duterte Memorial National High School, Kym Jhosh Dayaganon of Tisa 1 National High School, Julysa Reyes of Mabolo National High School, and Carrie Jhannicole Campanon of DSOSMNHS. — EBV
