23rd Milo Visayas Finals (umbrella) UC takes overall lead

CEBU, Philippines —  The University of Cebu stayed on course in reclaiming the overall championship after two days of intense action in the 23rd Milo Little Olympics Visayas Finals.

UC now has accumulated a total of 72 points to lead the secondary division followed by Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu with 43 points while Abellana National School is at third with 42.67 points.

UC also sets the pace in the elementary action with 60 points. SHS-Ateneo is at temporary second with 41.67, while University of St. La Salle-Bacolod stands at third with 35 points.

UC soared to the top after a dominating performance by its gymnasts, while its table tennis team swept the 16 gold medals yesterday at the SM Seaside City.

Arian Caballes, Ramon Holgado, Marc Letigio and Gab Misa topped the elementary boys table tennis, while Melanie Galleon, Ayesha Caballes, Neve Mata and Rhena Caracena clinched the elementary girls title.

 Henze Dominique Lucero, Dan Christian Bagol, Eljey Dan Tormis and Kris John Cabaluna dominated the secondary boys division as Mikay Dinauanao, Lindy Marie Darlo, Allana Felize Salar and Leah Agbon reigned supreme in the girls action.

UC also got five golds from arnis courtesy of John Earl Tapic, Rolly Ramjohn Barcelon, Ziven Zike Sta. Ana and Julia Mae Canada. Cebu City Central School, for its part, harvested six golds in the elementary division.

In athletics, UC still leads the secondary division with seven gold, three silver and two bronze medals, while Bacolod Tay Tung High School dominated the elementary division with three golds, one silver and three bronzes.

University of the San Jose-Recoletos dominated scrabble in both elementary and secondary division.

Over at the pool, USLS tankers made a big splash after they snared the secondary girls, elementary boys and girls title, while SHS-Ateneo ruled the secondary boys division.

Meanwhile, Reagan Joseph Garbanzos of St. Scholastica’s Academy of Bacolod established four new records in swimming via the 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 400m freestyle and 800m freestyle.

New Ormoc City National High School’s Chloe Laurente, for her part, also set a new record in the secondary girls 100m and 200m backstroke.  - Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
