Magis Eagles keep winning ways at JAM

CEBU, Philippines - Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu maintained its winning ways at the Jesuit Athletic Meet 2016 at the Ateneo de Davao University in Davao City. The Athletics team swept its events on Day 2, while the different squads remained undefeated.

In athletics, Enrico Avila won the gold medal in the 200m and 400m dash, with Kyle Kenjie Dahili winning the silver in both events. The two then combined with Ron Roque and Rick Sotto to win the gold in the 4x100m relay.

In girls athletics, Yssa Roque and Michelle Yu went 1-2 in the 200m dash. Pearl Abellar and Catherine Mayol pulled off the same 1-2 sweep in the 400m dash. The four girls teamed up to win the gold in the 4x100m relay.

In basketball, SHS-Ateneo 1 (3-0) whipped Ateneo de Naga, 98-36 and Ateneo de Iloilo, 81-26, to sweep its group. SHS-Ateneo 2 (1-1) kept its semifinals hopes alive when they beat Xavier University Ateneo de Cagayan, 84-76.

In girls volleyball, the Lady Magis Eagles (2-0) stopped Ateneo de Naga, 25-8, 25-16, 25-16. In boys football, the Magis Eagles (2-0) tripped Ateneo de Zamboanga, 2-1.

In swimming the Magis Eagles collected  three golds, three silvers and four bronze medals. Johann Tubesa led the team with one gold, three silvers and one bronze in individual events.

The JAM took a break at mid-day as everyone watched the Pacquiao-Vargas fight at the quadrangle of the high school campus. (FREEMAN)
