CEBU, Philippines - The action-packed Regional Flag Football Championship presented by Flag Football Philippines in cooperation with United Flag Football Club of Cebu resumes today at the San Roque football field in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
The competition, dubbed as “Southbowl Cebu 2015,” prides itself for being the first in unifying Visayas and Mindanao leagues. Participating teams are from Cebu, Iligan, Ozamiz, Dumaguete, Cagayan De Oro, Iloilo and Davao.
The South Bowl is a unique sports tournament that does not only tries to promote an up and coming sport, but also instills camaraderie among teams, leagues and small flag football organizations in the Philippines, bringing them together thru friendly competition.
The event also serves as a reassurance of a unified national alliance – where regional issues and challenges are threshed out and collaborative solutions are derived. It aims to preserve the high level of skills development, proper sportsmanship and player values, and focus on the national visionary process lead by the initiatives of Flag Football Philippines (FFP).
Flag football, the sport incorporated with Southbowl, has opened itself up to a broader audience thru its signature co-ed tournaments for both male and female participants. Growth and awareness of the game is mainly accredited to the fact that it is played by both males and females which elevates the flag football as the “Best Ambassador for American Football” in the country.
This fun and fast-paced sport rings equality and shared learning, thus creating a more solid foundation in community building. This game of athleticism of catch and run and pure strategy in every single play has drawn the interest of the youth by offering them an option to pursue athletics and excel in this alternative sport away from the more conventional sports mediums.
FFP, formerly known as the B-League Football Club, is the official Flag Football Authority in the country today and one of the most successful organized dynamic Flag Football organizations focused on the full development of a comprehensive growth plan for the sport in the country since 2008.
Bringing a greater love for the game, FFP is also organizing corporate tournaments, pewee flag football camps, school clinics, among others. In fact, it previously conducted the Nestea Fit Camp Hot as well as BLFC Masquerade Bowl, Mad Mix Up and King Bowl in 2010. Another tourney, the Jingle Bowl was held in 2014.
Moreover, FFP is establishing an annual international Manila tournament. In 2012, ten Asian countries joined the contest. This year's competition is slated on November 15 at Tribeca Residences Field, Sucat Parañaque, Metro Manila. (PR) (FREEMAN)
