CEBU, Philippines - Cebu’s ERCO-BRO Nationals FC will begin its bid in the 2014-2015 PFF-Smart National Club Championship as they take on first Stallion FC this afternoon in Manila.
Cebu Football Association president Ricky Dakay said that the team needs a lot of luck to win the crown as ERCO-BRO Nationals lost six key players.
Due to UFL ruling, Green Archers led by Chieffy Caligdong and two Philippine Air force booters are not allowed to play, forcing coach Glenn Ramos to utilize its reserve players."We lost six players because of this UFL ruling. Sige lang, mu-challenge lang mi gihapon," said Ramos.
This is the first time that the ERCO-BRO Nationals are representing Cebu in this event and coach Ramos' concern aside from fielding in mostly local players alongside five foreign players is the adjustment period on the every other day format.
The ERCO-BRO Nationals is under group B together with the Stallions, Global and M'Lang of South Cotabato. ERCO-BRO and M'Lang are the only non-UFL teams who made it to the final phase of this PFF event.
Group A, on the other hand, has Loyola Meralco Spark, Kaya FC and Ceres. The top two teams in each group will then move up to the semifinal round with the winners to play for the crown and the losers will battle for third. (FREEMAN)
