CEBU, Philippines – Local bets are expected to have tougher challenge in round 1 of 2015 Asean Mountainbike Cup after more foreign riders have signed up for this weekend’s battle in the rugged terrains of Manlayag-Patag in Danao City.
Riders coming from China, Bhutan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore have already assured their participation in the race.
China’s entry is Hu Hao in the men's elite, Bhutanese Dorji Pelden in the cross-country masters A, Hong Kong with Chun Hing Chan in the men's cross-country elite and Shin Shing Li in the downhill elite and Lai Chun Kin for both the cross-country juniors and downhill men's elite.
Malaysia, on the other hand, has Muhamad Khuzairi Bakar and Muhammad Suhaimi in the elite division of the cross-country while Ryan Wong competes in the master C class while the downhill action will have Gregory Dominic Hendroff Yong in the masters B.
Singapore is also sending Tsalina Yi-Lin Phang in the women's elite and Laura Liong in men's elite cross-country. Indonesia and Guam have also expressed their interests in the event, but their participation has not yet been confirmed.
Pinoy riders who have already registered are downhill bet John Derick Farr in the men’s elite, Eboy Farr in the masters B and Joey Barba also for the downhill elite action.
Mellissa Acdol will try her luck in the women's cross-country elite while Ariana Thea Patrice Dormitorio competes in the women's elite.
This event is C3 registered by UCI that is why more foreign riders have becoming interested to join the battle. (FREEMAN)
