P65,000 at stake in Tuburan chessfest
CEBU, Philippines - A total of P65,000 is at stake in the 2nd Mayor Democrito M. Diamante, Jr. Chess Team Tournament set on December 27-28 at the town plaza of Tuburan, Cebu.
Held in association with the Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (CEPCA) and the Province of Cebu under the leadership of Gov. Hilario 'Junjun' Davide III and Vice Governor Agnes Magpale, the two-day tilt offers P25,000 to the champion. The second and third placers will pocket P15,000 and P10,000, respectively, while the fourth to sixth will take home P7,000, P5,000 and P3,000.
Open to all cities (except Cebu City) and the municipalities of Cebu, each team shall be composed of four regular players and one or two alternates.
Each member must be a registered voter of the municipality/city he or she represents.
All teams are allowed to hire or pick up only one import from outside the town/city they represent.
CEPCA, being the major sponsor, and a group from Sagay City, Negros Occidental, are invited to join the tournament as guest teams. They are also required to field in only one class A player.
