SWU, USJ-R start title retention bids

CEBU, Philippines - Southwestern University Lady Cobras and University of San Jose-Recoletos men’s squad are poised to defend their title in their respective divisions of the 14th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc., volleyball tournament today at the Aznar Coliseum.

The Lady Cobras will take on University of San Carlos in a best-of-three championship series. SWU earned nine points at the end of the single-round robin semifinals, while USC had six points.

USJ-R, on the other hand, will battle SWU for the men’s title.

It was a triple tie after the men’s semis battle, but USJ-R and SWU was the two finalists after they had bigger quotients than University of San Carlos.

Meanwhile,  SWU girls’ will try to bounce back after losing Game 1, 21-25, 25-14, 25-19 against USC in their finals showdown for the secondary title.

USC aims for a double championship today with its boys’ team also up ahead in the series against the University of Southern Philippines Foundation.
