2nd San Pedro Calungsod Run set October 5

CEBU, Philippines - The second edition of the San Pedro Calungsod Run will take place on October 5 starting and ending at the San Pedro Calungsod chapel ground at the South Road Properties.

Now on its second year, the run  honors San Pedro Calungsod, the second Filipino saint next to San Lorenzo Ruiz.

The running event features 3K, 5K and 16K categories.

The organizers earlier wanted to include a 21K action, but event coordinator Orlando Osorio decided not to include a half-marathon since it is too close to the Cebu leg of the 2014 MILO Marathon.

The organizers are expecting to surpass the 1,250 runners that they gathered in the initial staging of the run last year.

The race serves as a fund-raiser to support Jheil Christ Malabago and Jomar Padica, two underprivileged college students who are altar servers assigned at San Pedro Calungsod chapel. Both Padica and Malabago comes from less fortunate families, but has showed full dedication and service at the chapel.

Cash prizes await the top three finishers for 5K and 16K, while 3K category is purely fun run.

Registration fee is pegged at P300 for 3K, P350 for 5K and P400 for the 16K run. Entry forms are available at San Pedro Calungsod chapel office and RUNNR at the Active Zone of Ayala Center Cebu. (FREEMAN)
