CEBU, Philippines – Mary Joy Tabal claimed another title in long distance running after ruling the Centennial Lion’s Club’s ‘Run 4 Fun, Live to Give’ in the Ayala Center Cebu Terraces yesterday.
Fresh from a successful stint in the Bohol International Marathon and Surigao Marathon, Tabal won the 16K women’s title after completing the race in 1 hour, three minutes and 36.69 seconds.
She was way ahead of Mereeis Ramirez (1:14:45) and Keisha Mae Delechos (1:18:44) who placed second and third, respectively.
In the men’s side, it was Kenyan Isaac Simat who dominated the battle with the time of 55:27. Another Kenyan Douglas Mwiti got the second place in 57:27, while Michael Largo wound up third at 57:31.98 clocking.
Two Kenyans also scored 1-2 finish in the 8K men’s open courtesy of Abraham Missos (27:13) and James Mebei (28:30). John Darryl Manus placed third in 29:20.
In the distaff side, Cherry Andrin ruled the women’s class with a time of 32:13, followed by Ruffa Sorongon (33:24) and sister Lovely Andrin (36:28).
Robert Daang lorded it over in the 4K run with a 13:44 clocking, while Riez Enriquez placed second in 14:24 as Junrey Andales settled for third in 14:54.
Michelle Beboso (17:42), Jhean Andrin (18:38) and Sarah Lee Cuizon (18:55) were the top three finishers in the female side. (FREEMAN)
