CEBU, Philippines - Multi-titled rider Glenn Aguilar wrapped up another Rider of the Year title despite a not-so impressive showing in the pro open division during the final leg of the Kopiko Astig 3-in-one Supercross Series last Sunday at the South Road Properties.
The 39-year-old Aguilar accumulated 492 points in the course of the 11-leg nationwide series spearheaded by Man and Machine Racing Promotions and supported by National Motorcycle Sports and Safety Association (NAMSSA).
Aguilar placed only fifth, but the five titles he got in the previous legs was enough to catapult him to the top of the overall standings. He bested Cebu's pride Jon-Jon Adlawan and the up and coming Davaoeno Rhowell 'Bornok' Mangosong IV sho settled for second and third, respectively.
It was Aguilar's 15th time to receive the ROY trophy and he is now contemplating on retirement so he could pass down the baton young ones.

"This is such a great honor for me winning my 15th title here in Cebu," said Aguilar. "It's getting kind of hard winning race especially when you are getting older but I believe there are many young riders like Jon-Jon (Adlawan) and Bornok (Mangosong) who will continue to strive for excellence and represent our country in international races."
Mangosong still has something to be happy about as he ruled the pro lite category in the last leg of the race. Ambo Yapparcon lorded it over in the intermediate class, the younger Aguilar Mclean snatched the beginners, mini and novice open production titles and Bilog Cabaya scored a double victory via the peewee 65 and 50cc categories.
The rest of the winners were Pia Gabriel (women's,Neil Ytac (underbone), Jed Luna (local enduro). Jeffward Tenorio (open enduro), Dexter Bacbac (veterans A), Ayen Ledesman (veterans B), Roscel Gungob (veterans C) and Team Gwapo (team race). (FREEMAN)
