CEBU, Philippines - Weiwei Gao and Rolando Alberto head the cast of winners of the Alta Vista Fun Golf Tournament, which was held over the weekend at the par-72 AVGCC layout in Pardo, Cebu City.
Gao, 14 years old, bagged the lowest gross honors firing five-under-par 67 strokes on nines of 33 and 34.
Alberto claimed the lowest net honors firing 11-under-par 61 strokes off a gross 77. He won the award after edging Atty. Ellie Espinoza in the countback.
The class A title went to Cristino Lim, who bucked pain on his left wrist en route to shooting nine-under-par 63 strokes off a gross 74. First runner-up for the premiere handicap category was Atty. Marlo Cugtas with his net score of 66 strokes slipping past 12-year-old Junia Gabasa in the countback.
Gabasa, who competed in the regular division from the same tee mound as the men, also had a 66 and settled for the second runner-up honors.
The class B plum went to Ari Clinton Lee with a net score of 65 strokes beating Jun Zosa in the countback. Zosa settled for the first runner-up honors while second runner-up was Nestor Mendoza with a net score of 67 strokes.
Joseph Shin topped class C with a net score of 66 strokes while Robert Tiu took the first runner-up plaque with a net 67. Second runner-up was Billy Tan with his net score of 68 edging Willy Go in the countback.
Tony Amor bagged the lowest gross honors of the seniors’ (55-69 years old) category firing four-over-par 76 strokes and beating tournament chairman Inting Go in the countback.
The lowest net honors for this group went to Ellie Espinoza with 61 strokes. First runner-up was Manuel Go with 63 while Inting Go took the second runner-up honors with his net 65.
David Villono won the title of the super seniors’ (70 years old and above) division firing a net score of 66 strokes. Runner-up honors went to Justice Pampio Abarintos, who shot 67 and edged Jun Caoili in the countback.
Tessa Ozoa topped the ladies division with a net score of even-par 72 strokes. Runner-up honors went to Marina Kaufmann with a net score of 76.
The dependents’ division crown went to Sir Cross Abarintos with 71 strokes while the runner-up honors went to Weiyu Gao with 72.
Pio Barandog won the guest division crown with a net score of 64 strokes off a gross 70 beating two others in the countback. First runner-up was Lee Kui Liam from sister-club Sabaha Golf and Country Club of Malaysia, who also had a net score of 64. Second runner-up was Mario Parungao also with 64.
