CEBU, Philippines - Samsung recently unveiled a new addition to its growing Galaxy smartphone and tablet series last week – the Galaxy Round.
Making its debut roughly a month after the Korean smartphone manufacturer celebrated the launch of the Galaxy Note 3, the Galaxy Round is – in the simplest of terms – a curved phtablet that is primed towards better user control and navigation, as well as intuitive app control and digital content management.
Sporting a curved screen measuring 5.7 inches in size, the Galaxy Round’s curved form factor is “fixed†or “stationaryâ€, which means that the device doesn’t actually flex or bend.
Powered by a 2.3GHz processor, the curvy phtablet also packs 3 gigs of RAM, making its overall hardware specifications similar to other members of the Galaxy series lineup.
Noted to be initially released in Korea, the Galaxy Round’s unveiling was met with mixed sentiments from netizens, with many convinced that Samsung is now at its wits’ end in coming up with new smartphone innovations.
But while many have come to view the device as a “novelty productâ€, its curved 1080p Super AMOLED screen is actually quite impressive, and can be viewed as a marker for new innovations to come.
