Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Suzuki-BMR Racing Team revved off its winning engine in the Visayas leg of the 2013 National Motorcycle Race of Champions the other day at the Freedom Park in Danao City.

Mario Borbon led Suzuki-BMR by claiming the expert 160 automatic and expert 115 underbone titles. He was also runner-up in the expert 150 underbone category.

Borbon defeated fellow Cebuano Insik Flores of Yamaha Racing in the expert 160 automatic, while Mark Capoy wound up third place.

Borbon once again beat Flores in the expert 115 underbone race as Louie Vega of JLV/Docs placed third.

It was a come-from-behind victories for Borbon in both classes, but the expert 160 automatic was the most special as he started at the seventh position then slowly worked his way up.

Borbon, however was outsmarted by Flores in the open 4-stroke action while Jess Louie Vega settled for another third place finish.

Two other Suzuki-BMR riders in John Louis Chan and Jeffry Tuico also made their team manager-coach Bobby Mencias and their sponsors proud of them after making podium finishes.

Chan landed second in the novice 125 superstock behind NCX Racing's RJ Commendador while Johniel Intas of JLV-Docs finished third.

Tuico managed to get a third place finish via the novice 160 automatic.

The top 3 finishers in the Visayas region qualified to the grand  finals of the National Motorcycle Safety Sports Association-sanctioned event in Manila on September 21.  (FREEMAN)
