CEBU, Philippines - The Aegis Vipers slammed the Kyocera Frontiers, 100-49, to stay perfect after six games in the 9th CSCC E-League for Basketball last Sunday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
Rodulfo Enterina III powered his way to an 18-point finish on top of four steals and two rebounds for Aegis, which spared no mercy against Kyocera right after the opening buzzer to cruise to an imposing 35-13 lead early on.
After mellowing down offensively in the second period, the red-hot Aegis went back to business in the final half where they beat Kyocera to the pulp, 46-20, to dish out an eye-popping 51-point blowout.
Steve Warren Navarra chipped 16 points and five rebounds for Aegis, which also drew 13 points each from Matt Ian Zanoria and Kevin Clark Navarra. Dean Junber Escalon was the other double-digit scorer for Aegis with a dozen markers.
Ariel Ramonito Edera had 17 points, four rebounds, three steals and two steals, but his all-around showing went for naught as Kyocera further wallowed down the cellar without a win in six starts.
In the other games, Ivan Agustin scored on a crucial layup with 1.9 seconds left in the contest to power the ASI Hardbacks to a 67-65 cliffhanger over the 1&1 Marauders, while John Denver Rivera erupted with 21 points on top of nine rebounds and six assists to lift the SSI Warriors to a 74-57 demolition of the Talleco Bandits.
Agustin finished with 15 points and three rebounds for ASI. Martin Ian de Guzman added 13 points as they improved their win-loss record to 2-4, while sending 1&1 to its fifth loss against only two wins.
On the other hand, Reymund Ardiente contributed 13 points, three rebounds and two steals as SSI chalked up its only second victory in seven games.
Mark Matidios netted 17 points and six rebounds, while Edwin Lumen banged in 12 points, three rebounds and two assist for Talleco, which also went off to a woeful 0-6 start of the season just like Kyocera. (FREEMAN)
