Dynamo FC captures 11-under title in Inter-Club football
CEBU, Philippines - Dynamo FC beat the University of San Carlos-BED in the penalty shootout, 2-0, to clinch the 11-under crown of the 13th Cebu Interclub Football Cup yesterday at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
Dynamo and USC-BED fought to a 1-all draw at the end of the regulation period, with Shawn Philip Canlas scoring for Dynamo and Juan Pablo Fernan for USC, thus the shootout.
In the decider, Dynamo kept its composure to punch in two goals behind the efforts of Canlas and James Baring.
In the 13-under semifinals, the BRO Nationals will take on the Talisay Razkals, while Team Phoenix will go up against Ateneo de Cebu.
AdC outsmarted Mactan Camellanz, 4-3, while Phoenix silenced Canduman 3-0 to advance into the final four.
Over at the Cebu City Sports Center, the Queen City United claimed its fourth straight win by default over a no-show Cebu Korean squad and that was all it needed to barge into the semifinal round in the men’s open division.
ERCO, on the other hand, ended its elimination assignment with an 8-1 drubbing of Danao FC.
Juvan Torres nailed ERCO’s first goal at the 16th followed by Juvert Alcover at the 21st and Hensie Ruiz at the 25th. They sank five more goals in the second half through Rogelio Castillon at the 67th and 88th, Nero Mole, Jr at the 68th, Jesus Menaling at the 70th and Rico Baldomar at the 89th.
San Roque Rehab, on the other hand, cruised to its third straight win after routing Hijos Del Pueblo, 5-0. Those who delivered the goods for San Roque were Albert Tejas at the 12th and 28th, Jephune Pelanio at the 20th and 33rd and Lupito Tumulak a the 31st.
In the lone group match B, the UC-Nigerian squad dumped Mactan Camellanz, 10-1, for its third win in four games.
Benjamin Bekeboh and Anthony Zhedioha fired four goals each, while John Oladunsoyf and Bobby Frebaduye contributed one goal apiece. (FREEMAN)
