BRO bootfest to follow new format Caecent

CEBU, Philippines - The second edition of the BRO National Football Festival set on April 22-28 at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City will follow a new format. The first five days features the “Challenge the Champion” tournament, while the rest of the week will be the regular tournament.

Under the “Challenge the Champion”, the top teams from the National Capital Region (NCR) will go up against  a selected teams from Cebu City and other areas in Visayas and Mindanao. It will be an 11-a-side competition.

The festival-type, on the other hand, will have 17 age brackets. These are the mixed players 7, 8, 9 and 10-under, boys 11, 12, 13, 14,15, 17 and 19-under, girls 14 and 19, executive 36 and 42, the ladies and men's open.

“We came up with this kind of format for our second edition for the purpose of riding on the crest of the recent successes of the Azkals in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) games circuit and sustain the high level of competition in the local scene,” said  Engr. Keith Buyco, who organizes the event along with coach Glen Ramos and Engr. Rodney Orale.

“The other reason is our continuing contribution in the grassroots development of the sport and also to provide all football stakeholders, both players and supporters, a fitting venue to play and enjoy the game,” added Buyco.

Registration fee is pegged at P800 in all age-groups and P1,250 for the executive, ladies and men's open.
