USC blanks Blessed John in Aboitiz Cup

CEBU, Philippines - The University of San Carlos (USC) kick-started its title campaign in the boys 17 division with a masterful 10-0 demolition of Blessed John Seminary in the 15th Aboitiz Cup football tournament at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

Kenko Gaudel sparked USC's relentless offensive with a hat-trick at the 12th, 15th and 22nd. He nailed his fourth goal at the 35th.

Ken Agot contributed two goals at the 30th and 39th to give USC a commanding 6-0 lead going into the second half.

Jerome Vestil duplicated Agot’s efforts with two goals through the 55th and 63rd, while Jeru Bascones added one at the 61st and Pomeroy Veloso at the 70th.

USC-BED, on other hand, cruised to a 5-2 win over Don Bosco Azkals.

Sean Nudalo gave Don Bosco an early lead with back-to-back two goals at the fourth and fifth minute, but USC-BED turned the tables on the second half with five goals through the efforts of Joash Gurdiel at the 45th, Bernard Anino at the 47th, Elmer Soco at the 59th, Eugene Abao at the 65th and Marlon Villa at the 70th.

In the boys 14, SJS-Mactan made a good showing, beating Centre for International Education, 9-0, behind Ian Francis Arevalo's three goals, while Canduman pounded Sacred Heart School-Hijas de Jesus, 6-0.

BMALV and Don Bosco Razkals also won their assignments in the boys 12 category, while Warzhockz FamBall and Canduman ended their match with a 2-all draw.

BMALV posted a 5-1 triumph over CPMS, while DB Razkals came up with a 5-0 shutout of VEPS.

In players 8 action, Canduman pulled off a 6-1 win against CMPS, USC-BED silenced VEPS, 4-0, CIE-A dumped SHS-Hijas, 5-0, Springdale C whipped CIE, 2-0, while Warshockz fought to a scoreless draw with San Roque FC-A.

Dinamo South posted the most lopsided win in the players 10 via a 12-0 annihilation of CIE-B.

In the other matches, Giuseppe shackled Holy Infant School, 6-0,  BMALV mauled CPMS, 7-0, while USC-BED yanked at VEPS, 3-0. (FREEMAN)
