I promised myself to take it easy this year limiting my directional tasks to the ultramarathons and few 10ks. But sometimes you cannot say no to friends. So when my old buddy Rolly Diorico, former barangay captain of Punta Princesa asked me to manage the Cooperative Advocacy Run early next year, I could not say “no”. After a series of meetings with director Philip Deri chairman of Cebu City Cooperative Development Council and Nap Sentilles at City Hall, It’s all systems go for the race geared to promote awareness of the cooperatives. By the way, the run which is the culminating event of the international year of cooperatives is suppose to be held on December 12, 2012 (12-12-12). But my technical director Precing Capangpangan and myself believe we need more time to make the race successful. The race is also being being spearheaded by Councilor Nida Cabrera who said that it is also one way to foster camaraderie among cooperative members in Cebu City. The race that will start and finish at the Plaza Independencia, will have a 3K, 5K and 10K categories. Entry fee is Php 250.00 with singlet for all 3 distances. The champions in the 10K division for both male and female will receive Php 5,000. The second placers will receive Php 3,000 while the third placers pocket Php 2,000. Fourth placers will receive Php 700.00 with the fifth placers receiving Php 500.00. In the 5K category the champions go home richer by Php 3,000, the second placers, Php 2,000 and the third placers Php1,000.00. Fourth to tenth placers will each get Php 300. Registration is now going on at Runnr in Ayala, Cebu City Sports Center and office of Councilor Nida Cabrera at the City Hall.
