Imee to run as independent candidate

CEBU, Philippines — Senator Imee Marcos announced in a video message yesterday said that she is going to run as an independent senatorial candidate.

This despite previous announcement made by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos that she is among the administration’s 12 official senatorial candidates.

The senator fondly calls the President as Ading.

Senator Imee Marcos emphasized that she carries with her the accomplishments from her last term, including the laws she sponsored for the Filipino people.

She affirmed her commitment to the principles of her father, former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., by serving every Filipino without favor and ensuring their welfare.

“Sana ay patuloy ninyo akong unawain at mahalin,” the senator ended her announcement.

She thanked her younger brother for his support for her.

“Taus-puso ang aking pasasalamat kay Pangulong Bongbong na, sa kabila ng galit at labis na kalupitan ng ilan, ako'y pinagtanggol niya, at naisama pa sa alyansa,” she said.

The senator also thanked the Nacionalista Party and her allies for their support and hoped that their trust will remain.

She narrated that the lessons she learned from her father still lives on in her heart 35 years since he died.

— (FREEMAN)
