CEBU, Philippines — An old ancestral house, including the lot, in Barangay Ilaya, Dumanjug, Cebu will be donated by its owners to the provincial government of Cebu for preservation and maintenance.

The heritage house is owned by Luisa, Mendiolita, and Floro Ricamora. The Ricamoras decided to donate their ancestral property to the Province to be preserved and maintained with “historic, aesthetic, and cultural character”.

The Provincial Board yesterday gave Governor Gwendolyn Garcia an authority to sign the deed of donation on behalf of Cebu Province.

“It is the policy of the Province of Cebu that properties with historic, scenic and aesthetic significance such as the above-mentioned property should be preserved and maintained for the future of its constituents,” said PB Member John Ismael Borgonia.

Dumanjug is a southern town considered to have a big historical contribution to Cebu Province having produced three governors--Gov. Dionisio Jakosalem (from 1906 to 1912), Gov. Pablo Garcia (from 1995 to 2004) and Gov. Gwen Garcia (from 2004 to 2013; and from 2019 to present). —  (FREEMAN)
