Fire hits residential area in Sapangdako, Cebu City
The Cebu City Fire Station (CCFS) arrived at the scene where the first alarm was called at 4:09 p.m. The fire was declared extinguished at 4:36 p.m.

CEBU, Philippines — A fire broke out in a residential area in Sitio Riverside, Barangay Sapangdako, Cebu City at around 4 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2024 causing property damage estimated at P750,000.

The Cebu City Fire Station (CCFS) arrived at the scene where the first alarm was called at 4:09 p.m. The fire was declared extinguished at 4:36 p.m.

Initial investigation showed that the fire originated from the residential house of Marissa Vergara.

The fire spread throughout the 300-square-meter area destroying four houses, and damaging one more. Although no casualties were reported, 25 individuals were displaced from their homes.

According to a report from CCFS, 20 fire trucks responded to the emergency, including 12 from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and eight from the Bureau of Fire Brigade (BFB).

As of this writing, the CCFS is still investigating all potential causes of the fire. — (FREEMAN)
