CEBU, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd)-Cebu City Schools Division started turning over to the Cebu City government yesterday all equipment purchased for the Palarong Pambansa 2024.
In a Facebook, DepEd-Cebu City Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Adolf Aguilar said the smart televisions installed in the Palaro media center at the Cebu City Sports Center had already been taken out for distribution to different schools in the city.
“From the TVs in the media center to our classroom,” he said.
According to the City’s Public Information Office, the television sets purchased for the Palaro will be given to schools in the mountain barangays of the city.
Aside from that, the sports equipment in different sporting events purchased for the use of the Palaro will also be turned over to the city government.
The equipment is needed for the city’s plan to really develop a grassroots sports program.
Cebu City Sports Commission Chairman John Pages earlier said they would review the City’s sports program, after seeing the results of the Palaro.
The Cebu City Division ended up eighth overall in the division ranking that was done for the first time in the Palaro, with 13 golds, 14 silvers and 16 bronzes. Manila dominated the standings with 37-22-25 gilts.
Meanwhile, The Freeman learned that the CCSC pool is already available for public use.
CCSC Manager Jovito Ricablanca, however, said they still await the go signal from the city government on the use of the rubberized track oval, following the controversy that surrounded it due to the wrong line markings that resulted to the 400-meter distance lacking 1.5 meters and the rubberized track already suffering damage despite being just newly refurbished. — /RHM (FREEMAN)
