4-storey school building first to rise in Paknaan

CEBU, Philippines — A four-storey school building in Barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City will be built first before the construction of the 12-storey school building.

This was according to Architech Felix Villanueva Jr., Area Manager for Region 7 of the Department of Education, during a site inspection together with Mandaue City Lone District Representative Emmarie “Lolypop” Ouano-Dizon.

Villanueva said that the proposed 12-storey building Paknaan National High School will be constructed in 2025.

The construction of both buildings (the 12-storey and 4-storey) is done through the initiative of the congresswoman.

Villanueva said that the construction of the 4-storey is a necessity and should commence earlier owing to the increasing population of the school.

Ouano-Dizon explained that the 12-storey school building will have a budget of P660 million and will rise on a 2,000 square meter lot donated by businessman Oscar Chua.

“Based sa ocular inspection ni DepEd Undersecretary Undersecretary Epimaco Densing III last week, nakita nga there is a need nga magtukod og school building aside sa 12-storey building. So mao to nga there is a need of additional 1,000 square meter lot for the construction of the 4-storey building. Unya kani nga additional lot is already approved by Oscar Chua in principle,” Ouano-Dizon said.

She is hopeful that the construction of the four-storey building will also commence before the end of the year.  — (FREEMAN)
