P28.4M in drugs seized in a week

CEBU, Philippines — A total of ?28.4 million worth of drugs have been seized while 465 suspects in various crimes were arrested by the Police Regional Office-7 in the implementation in their comprehensive crime prevention and enforcements from June 16 to 22 this year.

The ?28.4 million was the estimate of the total 4,188.70 grams of illegal drugs in 133 anti-drug operations where 155 drug suspects were arrested.

Police also arrested 186 individuals involved in illegal gambling activities and confiscated ?19,139 in bet money and other illegal gambling paraphernalia.

In their operation against loose firearms, 71 firearms, an explosive, and various types of ammunition were confiscated or surrendered, while 16 individuals were arrested.

They also arrested five most wanted persons and 103 individuals with pending warrants.

"In this intricate fight against illegal drugs, nobody should be neutral. It's either you are with us or you are with the enemy. Let us wage a comprehensive and well-coordinated fight against this menace for future generations,” said PRO-7 Regional Director Police Brigadier General Anthony Aberin. — (FREEMAN)
