CEBU, Philippines — While the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (CBRT) is not yet operational, a finished lane intended for its service along N. Bacalso Avenue is expected to be opened soon for motorists to ease traffic in the area.
This was disclosed by City Councilor Jerry Guardo to The Freeman after he inspected the location.
“Cleared na ang mga debris sa station (CBRT) near the (Cebu) South Bus terminal,” Guardo said, referring to the passenger terminal near a mall, and close to the exit arc of the Cebu City Sports Center.
The City government is clearing the vicinity of the CCSC, including obstructions from construction materials used in the CBRT project, to ensure the safety of the delegates and visitors of the upcoming Palarong Pambansa 2024.
“Nag-observe ko ang traffic didto man na choke sa South Bus terminal kay ang ilang entrance usa na lang, maghuot na ba...ilugan na. Pag abot diri sa may Leon Kilat, usa na lang. One lane na lang diha padong sa Jones. So atong gi-advise nga we will have this area opened,” Guardo said.
“Wala pa man na gamita na lane, they can use it para ma utilize, magamit for public use. That could help. Kung muliko sila, kung naay mga diversion, makatabang gihapon to…dako kaayog ika-tabang,” Guardo added.
The opening of the said CBRT lane near the CSBT was supposed to be to done this week.
However, the Department of Transportation decided to close it pending the installation of a “height limiter” device or height limit signage along the station.
“Na delay gamay kay nag wait taga CBRT na ma install ang height limiter,” Guardo said.
Guardo explained that it is necessary to put such devices for monitoring and caution.
“Kay basin duna nya daw mangagi na mga dako na truck nya ma sangit sa waiting shed (of the station), maguba unya nuon ug madasmagan,” Guardo added. (CEBU NEWS)
