CEBU, Philippines — The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has reminded students interested of its Junior Level Science Scholarships that applications will only be accepted until Friday, May 31, 2024.

In the notice released by DOST, several qualifications were listed including being a natural-born Filipino citizen and is a regular second year college student enrolled in a DOST- Science Education Institute (SEI) priority Science and Technology course in identified unified universities.

One also has to have a general weighted average (GWA) of at least 83 percent or its equivalent. The computation of the GWA excludes the grades in non-academic subjects.

The term “conditional” refers to conditional failure in a course where one has to either retake and pass the course or pass a re-examination while failing mark in any academic subject will render one as ineligible to apply for the scholarship.

Other requirements include a student with good moral character and in good health and may have applied for/taken the undergraduate scholarship examination, but did not qualify for the scholarship, or may qualify for an undergraduate scholarship but did not avail such award.

The online application period started last March 4 and the qualifying exam is set July 28, 2024.

Applicants are also reminded to have a working mobile number and a valid email addresses that is not a school email address but one’s personal account for its application account and notifications of its application status and results.
