Dakay to oversee CCSC renovation

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — US-trained technocrat Engr. Pericles Dakay has been designated by Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama as the overall lead in the civil works of the ongoing renovation of Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC), the main venue of the Palarong Pambansa 2024 set this July.

The next three weeks will be crucial considering that the city will also host the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Regional Meet from May 4 to 10.

The CVIRAA meet will also be utilizing the same venue as that of the Palaro.

“Ricky Dakay will be overall sa civil works diha sa Sports Center. He was the one I was with when two weeks before dili mahuman ang IEC preparation sa SRP, so we took over,” Rama said thru the City’s News and Information team.

Dakay was also the one handling the civil works of the Sinulog grandstand at the South Road Properties the past two years. Amidst all doubts, Dakay and his men delivered the goods.

Dakay is also helping out the city government in the construction of the Cebu City Medical Center. During his inspection at the CCSC, Rama saw some other things that need to be improved not only inside the sporting facility.

Rama said that structures that are blocking the sidewalks and are without permits will have to be cleared as soon as possible.

"Safety, order has to be talked... I don't want na ang mga bata ma-disturb dinhi," Rama said.

The mayor has directed the Cebu City Police Office to also take charge of the murals around CCSC to perk up the mood of the athletes, coaches, and the rest of the visitors coming for the Palaro.

Rama said he will now devote a time to check on the progress of the works at CCSC starting yesterday until all is set.

“Now, from here, every day mamisita ko sa sports center. Ampo mo, ampo aron di ta kinahanglan mangadto sa probinsiya. We will do it all along in the city of Cebu,” Rama said. (CEBU NEWS)
