CEBU, Philippines — A construction worker ran amok and stabbed three people before being shot dead by one of them last Sunday evening in Barangay Tupas, Ronda town, Cebu.

The fatality was identified as Zaldy Bailoces, 33 years old, married, a construction worker from Bindoy, Negros Occidental Province. He died at the Rural Health Center in Ronda after sustaining a gunshot wound to the chest.

Based on the investigation by the Ronda Police Station, Bailoces just suddenly entered his bunkhouse and stabbed a 20-year-old co-worker from Manhuyod, Negros Oriental, who was injured in the right hand, and a 32-year-old co-worker from Bindoy, Negros Occidental, who was wounded in the back.

He then went to the house of a 72-year-old man and also stabbed him in the hand and abdomen, but the septuagenarian tried to fight back with a revolver. He said they were fighting for it when it suddenly went off, hitting Bailoces in the chest.

The police recovered the .38 cal. revolver with one live bullet and a spent shell. The septuagenarian surrendered to the police and is now under police custody.

Before Bailoces ran amok he allegedly borrowed ?1,000 from the septuagenarian because he was going back to Negros. Bailoces also appeared to have been depressed about something he didn’t discuss with anyone.

The Ronda police said they will deepen the investigation to find out what caused Bailoces to do what he did. — (FREEMAN)
