CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Council has tabled proceeding to the second deliberation of the proposed ordinance revising the Tax Code due to the need to discuss it further in a bicameral meeting with the executive department.
City Councilor Noel Wenceslao, chairman of the City Council committee on budget and finance, said they saw the need to go over the proposed adjustment to the real property tax (RPT) payments and revisit the valuations together with the mayor and pertinent City Hall departments.
He said they need to have the bicameral meetings to unite his version of the ordinance with the executive department’s “own version” and come up with a consensus.
“Because if tan-aw nako mayoriya dili ganahan nga i-revise then I will not pursue it because it will be useless pananglitan inig-abot sa council mo-object sila,” he said.
