Groups join in cleanup drive

CEBU, Philippines — Several groups under the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan: Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) in Central Visayas participated during the recent national cleanup drive of the Department of Interior and Local Government.

The KALAHI-CIDSS earlier encouraged the groups to join in the said activity as the program promotes the principles of participation among local communities and strengthens collective effort in protecting the environment.

The KALAHI-CIDSS program of DSWD also recently turned over community sub-projects in some barangays in Negros Oriental.

DSWD-7 conducted a city-wide turnover of sub-projects that cost ?5,095,600, of which the KALAHI-CIDSS Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) grant is ?4.8 million, while the ?295,600 is the local counterpart contribution.

The respective sub-projects of the barangays funded under the Cycle 1 implementation of PAMANA include roads in Binobohan, Sandayao, Humayhumay, Imelda, Planas, and Trinidad, street lighting in Hinakpan, and inter-cultural amenities in Tacpao.
