CEBU, Philippines — At least 100,000 passengers are expected to flock the Capitol-run bus terminals for the Holy Week break.

Rodenits Esgana, manager of Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) and Cebu North Bus Terminal (CNBT), said that bus companies have committed to deploy enough buses to ferry passengers to their respective towns in the province.

Esgana said they have prepared for the expected influx of passengers, including security and medical emergency.

Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia inspected the CSBT yesterday and observed the orderly operation of the terminal. She said that unlike in the previous years where passengers scramble to get a seat on the bus, the terminal operation is now more organized with all the passengers waiting in the line to get a ride.

She said that one of the improvements in the CSBT is the automated ticketing system. The governor also noted that the terminal’s comfort rooms are now presentable and clean.

The provincial government has partnered with a private firm to operate a tech-enabled toilet for a minimal amount of service fee of P10. Garcia said the Capitol is trying to level up in improving the services of the province-run terminals.

The governor observed during her visit at the CSBT yesterday that the unfinished work of the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (CBRT) along the Natalio Bacalso Avenue has affected the waiting time of the passengers. She said it would impact the time of passengers to spend their vacation for the long weekend.

Meanwhile, Garcia is set to visit 21 churches starting today for her annual Visita Iglesia in observance of the Holy Week. —/FPL (FREEMAN)
