Pasko sa Carbon to showcase enhanced public market look
CEBU, Philippines — Redefining the Carbon Market is among the highlights of 18th Pasko sa Carbon which will also sail off the enhanced features of the biggest public market of Cebu City.
Yesterday, a press conference was conducted inside the Carbon Market Interim Building to lay down the expectations for the 18th Pasko sa Carbon that is being organized by the United Multisectoral Coordination Council of Cebu City (UMC4).
According to Maria Pino, night market organizer, vendors can also participate in the Misa de Gallo that will be held inside the market.
Erwin Goc-ong, President of Carbon Market Vendors Development Cooperative (CEMVEDCO), however, said that Archbishop Jose Palma will not be among the celebrants of the Masses unlike in the previous years.
Among those that will be highlighted during the Pasko sa Carbon is the enhanced features of the market.
“Kani man gung market is already been there since before, pero gi-enhance nato, gipanindot, gipahapsay, aron mahimo siyang usa sa attraction sa atong market,” said Pino.
“If you remember atong Carbon Market kaniadto kay dili masudlan og sakyanan,” she added.
Pino said that currently, the Carbon Market can already accommodate vehicles inside the premises since there is already a systematic flow of vehicles.
For the vendors, Pino said that this year it is already refined and organized unlike the previous years. Market vendors are now systematic and uniformly provided with tents. The whole area was also being lit up in all corners.
“Mahimo ni siyang first time para namo kay behaved naman kaayo mi kay kun unsa kadak-a among tent mao nasad kadak-a among pwesto, mao na sya ang enhancement,” said Pino.
Apart from this, Pino also takes pride in their lighted Christmas Tree and Arc being installed around the area.
Meanwhile, Cebu City Transportation Office (CTTO) head Raquel Arce said there will be road closures near the night market that will begin at around 5:30 p.m. to give vendors their time to set up.
Arce said they will be deploying two traffic patrols to oversee the area while there will also be police visibility.
“Karon na redefine na jud nato, makita sa atong palibot nga hapsay na, dili na samok and eventually naa nasad tay mga tukuron nga mga edipisyo, so ma realize ra gyud na nato nga ma redefine ra nato ang atong carbon as tourist destination, limpyo, hapsay ug nindot,” Market Administrator Robert Barquilla said. — /FPL (FREEMAN)
