TUPAD beneficiaries in Lapu-Lapu identified
CEBU, Philippines — The office of Lapu-Lapu City Congresswoman Cindi King-Chan has recently conducted a profiling of beneficiaries of TUPAD, or “Tulong Pangkabuhayan Alang sa mga Displaced” workers.
The profiling activities are intended for the P1 million fund allocation for TUPAD beneficiaries through the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Julieta Soon, assistant program coordinator, said each TUPAD beneficiary will work for 10 days in her barangay and will receive a total of P4,680 or P468 daily.
She said the daily rate was increased from the previous P435 per day due to the rising cost of basic commodities.
The P1 million is Tingog Partylist fund allocation, coursed through the Alagang Tingog Center (ATC) located in the city, with the assistance of the King-Chan’s staff.
After the processing of the beneficiaries’ documents, this will be forwarded to DOLE which will then call qualified beneficiaries for orientation and processing of their insurance.
Beneficiaries will then be sent to work in their assigned areas to plant and clean the streets and will then receive their pay after 10 days of work.
Earlier, DOLE-7 regional director Lilia Estillore, during her visit to Governor Gwendolyn Garcia at the Cebu Provincial Capitol, said that an additional funding worth P30 million will be set aside by the agency for Cebu Province through their TUPAD program.
TUPAD is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed. — (FREEMAN)
