Cops probe basketball riot in Barangay Apas

Romeo D. Marantal - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Police Office is looking into a reported riot during a basketball game in Apas, Cebu City.

Police Lieutenant Col. Janette Rafter, deputy director for operation and spokesperson at CCPO, said they are coordinating with the organizer since the incident was not reported to them.

“I will advise the station commander to conduct investigation on this matter,” said Rafter.

The police also have advised the organizer to ensure security during the game to avoid trouble since the goal is to strengthen friendship among the young people.

Rafter also advised the public to avoid betting since it would only cause chaos among supporters. — (FREEMAN)
