CEBU, Philippines — A security guard allegedly physically assaulted a staff member of Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama during a parking dispute Saturday morning at the City Hall.
The security guard under GDS Security Agency identified as Roger Pepito Canillo, a resident of Barangay Camputhaw, was accused of assaulting Executive Assistant IV Lemuel Sicab Felisario, a resident of Barangay Babag.
Felisario was called to attend a meeting with Rama. When he parked his motorcycle, Canillo immediately approached him telling him that he was not allowed to park.
According to Felisario, “I asked him to consider letting me park but he would not consider doing so.”
Felisario then removed his helmet and informed Canillo who he was during the argument. However, not long after, the argument resulted to Canillo landing two solid punches directly to Felisario’s face.
Felisario said that after he got hit, he removed his knapsack and ran away to distance himself.
Felisario was asked to seek medical attention for any injuries he sustained after being hit in the right temple, the eye, and the back of the head.
Cebu City Police Office director, Police Colonel Ireneo Dalodog, said the altercation was due to a parking misunderstanding.
Dalogdog noted the importance of having a neuropsychological examination to observe if a security guard is mentally able to handle the duties being assigned.
“That's why when you apply to be a security guard, you undergo a neuropsychological test because you might have a mental disorder, you carry firearms, you are able to shoot anyone at any time even on a case to case basis. You have no patience,” Dalogdog added. — UV Intern (FREEMAN)
