Palace declares June17 a non-working holiday

CEBU, Philippines — It’s a special (non-working) holiday in the entire Lapu-Lapu City on June 17, 2023 as the city marks its 62nd Charter Anniversary celebration.

Malacañang issued Proclamation No. 218 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin declaring June 17, 2023 a special (non-working) day in Lapu-Lapu City.

The proclamation says that it is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Lapu-Lapu be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration.

“Ang Charter Day usa ka pahinumdum sa mga prebilihiyo ug katungod nga gihatag sa gobyerno sa mga katawhan,” said Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard Chan.

In line with the celebration, the city government has line-up several activities for its constituents to avail on this day.

These are free cataract operation for ten senior citizens in cooperation with ARC Hospital and Deseret Foundation; Lapu-Lapu City Hall Sports Fest; blood donation drive in time for the World Blood Donor Day; Zumba Fitness at Mactan Shrine; free check-up and eyeglasses for 360 beneficiaries in cooperation with Rotary Club Mactan; free mental health consultation; LGBTQ Pride Gala, among others.

Also, there will be free circumcision to 500 beneficiaries in cooperation with Budjong Integrated Humanitarian Mission and various services from the city government. —/GMR (FREEMAN)
