CEBU, Philippines — The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) is preparing for the effects of El Niño in the Province of Cebu.
The PDRRMO personnel also advised the public to observe safety measures like drinking a lot of water and staying in shady places to avoid long exposure from the heat of the sun.
PDRRMO spokesperson Wilson Ramos said those measures should be observed by the people.
He said they are also concerned on the effect of the El Niño on crops and are now coordinating with the Provincial Agriculture’s Office about their plans.
So far, they haven’t received any complaints or problems regarding the water supply and the effects on crops.
They are also monitoring the LGUs for grass fire incidents.
“We are waiting for updates and reports from the LGUs regarding this time,” Ramos said.
Governor Gwendolyn Garcia has special projects to help the LGUs of the province, the Caravan of Services, which already helped a lot of people especially those who need services from the government not necessarily related to El Niño. — GMR (FREEMAN)
