Rama wants permanent home for CCMC College of Nursing

CEBU, Philippines — After producing two topnotchers and achieving 100% passing rate in the latest Nursing Licensure Examinations, Mayor Michael Rama wants the Cebu Technological University (CTU)-Cebu City Medical Center College of Nursing to have a permanent home.

Rama said he will ask the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) to donate the building currently occupied by CTU-CCMC College of Nursing at D. Jakosalem Street in Barangay Santo Niño, Cebu City.

“Ato ng pangayoon ng ilang eskwelahan sa mga dato, CEC. Ang mga tag-iya diha mga bilyonaryo,” Rama said.

According to Rama, he will ask the owners of CEC to donate the building instead of renting it out to CTU-CCMC College of Nursing.

The mayor said he will also ask the City Council to help him convince the CEC owners so the CCMC’s college of nursing will have its permanent home.

“Atong hangyoon with the City Council so they will have a permanent home for the college of nursing,” Rama said.

The mayor met with the 74 new nurses, including the two topnotchers—Phoebe Joy Dingcong and Carmela Bihay. The new nurses were accompanied by Dean Audrey Garganera.

“I’m very proud that under my mayorship, we have a hundred percent passing,” Rama said.

He promised the two topnotchers a free trip for two abroad. The mayor assigned Councilor Joel Garganera to look for funds and other means to make the trip possible.

Meanwhile, Rama lauded the City Health Department for the recognition and awards they received from the Department of Health.

Rama has encouraged the CHD to do more as there are still a lot of things to be done to improve the healthcare system in the city The mayor himself was a recipient of the DOH-7 award. — FPL (FREEMAN)
