CEBU, Philippines — A woman was shot to death in front of her store by an unidentified male suspect along Rabaya St., Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City on Sunday evening.
The fatality was identified as Leonora Carlos, 57-year-old, a resident of Purok Matinahuron of the said barangay.
The Talisay City police said that based on the account of the son of the victim, Roman Joss Carlos, of legal age, his mother was talking to an unidentified man onboard on a motorcycle while she was closing their store at around 8:00 in the evening.
"According sa iyang anak, nagtuo siya nga mopalit lang sa ilang tindahan...pagsulod niya sa ilang balay, didto nakadungog na siya og usa ka buto," said Police Corporal Milfred Labitad, Talisay City police investigator.
When he went inside their store, he heard a burst of gunfire and then he saw his mother lying outside their store with a gunshot wound on her head.
"Mostly sa mga closed-circuit television (CCTV) diri kay guba... niya napa mi gipangsubay nga CCTV," the investigator said upon checking the existing CCTV near in the area.
The victim's sister, Carmen Gonato, of legal age, also said that her sister had not received any threats of life.
"Ako na siya gi advisan sa una nga kung manirado (sa tindahan)... kinahanglan sayo kay akong kahadlokan basin tulis or unsa," she said.
The unidentified gunman fled from the scene on his motorcycle after he shot Leonora to death.
Police are now conducting an investigation to identify the perpetrator and the motive of the killing. — Romeo D. Marantal, GMR (FREEMAN)
