CEBU, Philippines — Presidential Assistant for the Visayas, Secretary Michael Lloyd Dino, has reiterated his continued support to both President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on its political journey.
Dino said that he will be supporting President Duterte all the way after announcing his retirement from politics the other day as Go, the father of Malasakit Centers, officially announced that he is running for the vice presidency.
“Walang iwanan kay President Duterte. Walang iwanan sa Malasakit Centers, sa Build Build Build Program, at sa lahat ng reporma at tagumpay ng administrasyong Duterte. Walang maiiwang Pilipino sa walang humpay at tunay na pagbabago,” said Dino in a press statement.
When sought for comments as to who will be Go’s runningmate, Dino has opted to remain mum on this matter and wait when Go’s runningmate files the certificate of candidacy.
But Duterte himself has announced that it will be a Sara Duterte-Bong Go tandem however, the presidential daughter filed her COC seeking reelection as Davao City mayor.
Go, who has been running on the platform of “Bisyo ay magserbisyo”, said that in running for vice president, he wants to continue the Duterte legacy of good programs and governance and he will do his best to add more services for the Filipinos to have a better life.
“I want to be remembered as public servant na nalalapitan ng sinumang ordinaryong mamamayan at buong pusong nagsisilbi para sa ikabubuti ng bansa,” said the longtime presidential aide turned senator.
Go, whose candidacy when he ran for senator started in Cebu with Dino on the helm, has been helping thousands of Cebuano fire victims by giving them financial aid and asking the different government agencies to hasten their recoveries after the fire.
On the other hand, the Go-initiated Malasakit Center with over 100 centers nationwide started and was launched in Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) in Cebu City last February 12, 2018.
In December 2019, President Duterte signed Republic Act 11463 or the Malasakit Centers Act, which institutionalizes the center and makes it available to DOH-run hospitals in the Philippines.
OPAV is part of The Working Group or TWG Committee who drafted the key operations guidelines of the Malasakit Center.
Malasakit Center is a convergence of all agencies that go hand in hand in harmony for service to the poor. It is an inter-agency synergy to facilitate speedy processes of availing government’s assistance in public hospitals. — GMR (FREEMAN)
