CEBU, Philippines — The son of the late Barili mayor Marlon Garcia has assumed post in the Sangguniang Bayan.

Pablo John “John- John” Garcia IV took his oath of office yesterday before his uncle, Deputy Speaker Pablo John “PJ” Garcia.

John-John thanked the siblings of his father, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and Congressman PJ, who have given him their trust in holding public office.

“Wala gyud ni nga plano sa akong kinabuhi nga mosulod og politika,” said John-John.

When his father died, John-John said he felt the responsibility to continue his father’s legacy which led him to accept the appointment as town councilor of Barili.

John-John was appointed by Governor Garcia to fill in the eighth slot of the Sanggunian following the ascension of the first councilor to the vice mayor post.
