PNoy in Cebu to lead opposition rally

CEBU, Philippines — Former President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino is in Cebu today to lead the campaign sorties of the opposition’s senatorial candidates.

The former president will personally campaign for the Otso Diritso candidates. Joining Aquino in today’s gathering of supporters are Senators Risa Hontiveros and Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan.

Opposition bets Chel Diokno, Samira Gutoc, Florin Hilbay, Romeo Macalintal and Erin Tañada are also scheduled to visit the Carbon Public Market, Tabunok Public Market, and Carcar Public Market this morning. They will have a dialogue with the hog farmers in Carcar City.

This afternoon, the opposition candidates will attend the Democracy Forum (Manindigan Na!) at the Southwestern University together with Aquino.

Gutoc, Tañada, Hilbay, and Diokno arrived one day ahead of today’s sorties to join the Mega Cebu Senatorial Candidates Forum at the University of San Carlos yesterday.

The opposition slate was also endorsed by Vice President Leni Robredo during a rally in Cebu last month. — FPL (FREEMAN)
