City recognized 10 outstanding traffic enforcers

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City government yesterday recognized this year’s 10 most outstanding traffic enforcers.

Among almost 500 traffic enforcers, Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) and the Rotary Club of Cebu Port Centre chose 10 outstanding individuals after two months of deliberation.

CCTO Operations Chief Francisco Ouano said the awarding ceremony serves as “pasidungog” (recognition) for traffic enforcers who spend hours on the road despite the searing heat of the sun and heavy rains.

“Dako kaayo nig epekto (awarding) not only sa Cebu City, ang uban sa syudad. Ma-encourage man gud ang mga enforcers nga magtinarong sa ilang trabaho. Isip traffic enforcer [kay] dili lalim, uwan, init, abog, “ Ouano told The FREEMAN. (This has big impact not only in Cebu City but in other cities as well.  The enforcers will be encouraged to work religiously.)

The criteria in choosing the awardees include good performance in apprehending violators, polite attitude in dealing with motorists, and perfect attendance.

The awardees are Bonifacio Asentista, Reynaldo Cajes, Nicasio Emnace, Renato Generoso, Jonathan Itang, Mynard Manatad, Eldridge Roy Rosel, Metodio Torillo, Rey-an Marie Torion, and Lowell Yguinto.

Like last year, each of the traffic enforcers received P10,000 and life insurance.

Ouano said enforcers who were already chosen last year are no longer included in this year’s search to give chance to other traffic enforcers.

The search and awarding for the outstanding enforcers started in 2016.

On the other hand, Ouano revealed that CCTO is providing enforcers clothing allowance, including a cap, for their protection under the sun. They are also encouraged to drink vitamins to take care of their health. — Raizza Aliviado USC INTERN MBG (FREEMAN)
