CEBU, Philippines — At least P2.5 million worth of properties, including three vehicles, went up in smoke after a warehouse complex was razed by fire late Thursday evening in Sitio Kagape, Barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City.

Senior Fire Officer Edson Dapal, fire investigator, said the complex was owned by Richard Ng and was rented out to six tenants. Dapal said they received the fire alarm at 10:21 p.m. and was declared under control one hour later.

No one was reported hurt and no residents were affected since the structures were not residential. Dapal said they are initially looking at electrical short circuit as possible cause because the caretaker saw the power lines sparked before the conflagration.

The caretaker told the fire investigator that the power company had repair works in the area on that day. Dapal, however, said they are still conducting follow up investigation to determine the cause. (FREEMAN)
